The Mission Committee has decided to focus on several different mission projects through the year. For the year 2025, most of the mission projects will be requesting financial assistance. If you have questions or would like to help work on any of these projects, please contact Robin Schacht or a member of the Missions Team.
International Mission Project – Broken Hearts Ministry, Juarez, Mexico
Broken Hearts Ministries is a faith-supported ministry, which relies solely on donations from God’s people for it’s financial provision. Jim and Peggy Warren, with connections to the local Lancaster area, founded the program. The ultimate purpose of this ministry is to make disciples through Bible studies, mentoring, and counseling while also showing Christ’s love through helping meet physical needs for food, housing, education, medical, and other assistance. LUMC will be supporting the international project of Broken Hearts Ministry through financial gifts.
Nationwide Project – UMCOR.
UMCOR provides humanitarian relief to those facing natural disasters and in need of help and hope throughout the United States. We will be supporting a relief project within the U.S.
July – August – September Project – Grant County Cancer Coalition
The Grant County Cancer Coalition provides financial assistance to cancer patients in Grant County. The non-profit organization helps with some of the extra expenses patients may have, especially transportation costs for medical appointments. All funds stay within Grant County to help local residents. The GCCC holds a large fund-raising event in the fall and we will be participating in the event.
See the Grant County Cancer Coalition website or their Facebook page for more information about the organization.
October Project – Heifer International
The work of Heifer International is to help reduce poverty and hunger in the world by providing means for families to increase their income and sustainability. At LUMC, we hope to buy a goat, some chickens or honeybees for a smallholder farmer. See the Heifer International website.
November-December Project – Grant County Holiday Project
Grant County Holiday Project provides food, Christmas gifts, school supplies and financial assistance to families here in Grant County. All funds raised through the holiday project stay local. More information will be coming on ways you can help with this local outreach project.
